Background

One of the start-up unicorns in Indonesia is in the process of developing a strategic plan to acquire and grow merchants on their own platform.

Objective

  • To define merchant segment groups based on their business needs and identify the size of opportunity

  • To capture merchant’s experience and satisfaction including pain points in using Client’s merchant-facing products

Challenges

  • Client needs to understand what factors drive merchant’s business growth. Does technology adoption contribute to growth, and how determining is it?

  • Client needs to identify which segment they should focus-on to, by identifying the key determinants of growth

How We Do It

  • We talked to business owners to identify potential opportunities as well as barriers for Clients to acquire more merchants and expanding offerings

  • Some concepts on merchant-facing products incl. POS payment and promotion platforms were evaluated

Solution

We helped Client to identify possible key determinants/ independent variables of growth incl. source of capital, management style, sales target, attitude towards technology and digital as a base to shape segments
